A dry Goan fish dish

Ingredients
- 500 gmsFish fillets
 - 1 bunchCoriander
 - 1 tbspGinger
 - 2 tbspGarlic
 - 4Green chillies
 - 1 tspCumin
 - 4Cloves
 - 1 pieceCinnamon
 - ½ tspPepper
 - 2 tbspJaggery
 - ¼ cupMalt vinegar
 - ½ tspTurmeric
 - 1 tspChilli powder
 - Oil
 - Salt
 
Preparation
- Grind all ingredients except the fish with some salt
 - Cut fish fillets into bite-sized pieces and marinate in the ground paste for at least an hour
 - Heat oil and fry fish pieces on all sides, reserving the marinade
 - Remove fish and simmer the reserved marinade with 1 cup of water
 - Add fish back and simmer for a few minutes
 
Cafreal is usually made with chicken drumsticks and eaten as a snack rather than a main. Fish is another alternative. That is what I have used though it is usually made using cutlets. Adding the thick sauce left after simmering the marinade makes it a complete dish.
