A beef dish with onions in two forms

Ingredients
- 1 kgBeef, diced
 - 1 kgOnions, chopped
 - 1 kgOnions, sliced
 - 4Green chillies, chopped
 - 2Bay leaves
 - 50 gmsGinger
 - 50 gmsGarlic
 - 1 tspShahjeera
 - 2Brown cardamom
 - 6Cloves
 - 4Cardamom
 - 1 pieceCinnamon
 - ½ tspPepper
 - 10Kashmiri chillies
 - 2 tbspCoriander powder
 - 1 tbspCumin powder
 - 1 tspChilli powder
 - 1 tspTurmeric powder
 - 1 cupYoghurt, beaten
 - Oil
 - Salt
 
Preparation
- Heat oil, add bay leaves and then the chopped onions and green chillies and fry
 - Add shahjeera and brown cardamom
 - Add garlic and ginger and fry
 - Coarsely ground cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, pepper, kashmiri chillies and add
 - Add diced beef and stir
 - Add coriander powder, cumin powder, chilli powder and turmeric and fry
 - Add beaten yoghurt, salt and simmer for 1 to 2 hours till beef is tender. This can also be done in an oven at 160°C for a few hours
 - Add sliced onions and stir
 - Simmer for 30 minutes
