It is a bit hard to find gnocchi served with anything apart from a simple sauce - a pesto sauce or gorgonzola are the ones I go for. May be it isn't traditional but could never find anything with a bit of meat in it. That is if you can find gnocchi at all. A few years ago, I had a strange conversation at the local Italian...
Me: Do you have gnocchi?
Him (looking a bit surprised): Yes
Me: What kind?
Him (more surprised): Hmm, not sure...
Me (a bit indignant): You don't know what kind?
Him (defensive): OK, let me check (and then pulls out his mobile and starts deciphering it)
Me (A ha!): No, no, not Nokia... Gnocchi! Gnocchi! You know the pasta?
Him: Oh, no, we don't have it
So now here is a recipe that combines gnocchi and sausage.
