Bread Sheera

A quick recipe for leftover bread

Bread Sheera

Ingredients

  • 1Large onion, diced
  • 1Green chilli, sliced
  • 1 tspBrown mustard seeds
  • ½ tspCumin seeds
  • ½ tspTurmeric powder
  • 4Curry leaves
  • 8 cupsBread, roughly shredded
  • 1 tspLemon juice
  •  Oil
  •  Salt

Preparation

  1. Heat oil and add mustard seeds and let them pop.
  2. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves and sliced chilli. Stir for a short time.
  3. Add onion and stir till soft
  4. Add turmeric powder and fry for a few minutes
  5. Add salt to taste and add a bit of water if needed.
  6. Add shredded bread and toss till the mixture is evenly distributed.
  7. Stir till heated through. Add the lemon juice.

This is a great recipe for leftover bread. Break the bread into bite sized pieces. If you are using sourdough, go easy on the lemon juice. It makes a great snack for breakfast or tea.
