Beef Cannelloni

Savoury beef mince in large pasta tubes in white sauce

Beef Cannelloni

Ingredients

  • 500 gmsBeef mince
  • 1Onion, chopped
  • 1Carrot, grated
  • ½Leek, sliced
  • 2 clovesGarlic, crushed
  • 2 tspChilli flakes
  • 200 gmsMushrooms, sliced
  • 400 gmsCanned diced tomatoes
  • 1 cupRed wine
  • 200 gmsButter
  • 250 gmsCannelloni tubes
  • 2 cupsTasty cheese, grated
  • ½Parmesan, grated
  • 2 tbspPlain flour
  • 2 cupsMilk
  •  Salt
  •  Ground Pepper

Preparation

  1. Heat oil and 50gms butter in a pan and fry chopped onions, garlic, leek and chilli flakes till soft
  2. Add mince and cook till browned
  3. Add mushrooms, tomatoes and wine
  4. Add salt to taste
  5. Bring to boil and simmer for an hour
  6. Melt 100 gms of butter and add the plain flour
  7. Add salt and ground pepper. Mix together and then gradually add milk to make a white sauce
  8. Use the remaining butter to rub on to a large ovenproof dish
  9. Stuff mince mixture into cannelloni tubes and lay in dish
  10. Add white sauce, sprinkle with tasty cheese and then the parmesan
  11. Put in a 180°C oven for 20 minutes.
